Colombia - 5000 Peoso Oro 1986 Centennial of Constitution Commemorative

This commemorative note was issued in 1986 to celebrate the country's 100th Year of its Constitution 1886-1986. The front of the note depicts the country formal President Rafael Nunez (1879-1882 and 1884-1894). President Rafael Nunez was born in 1825 and died in office in 1894. The Constitution of Colombia 1886 created the Republic of Colombia from the United States of Colombia. The 1886's Constitution basically changed how the country is governed, how the President is elected and for how long and the power of the Presidential in appointing officials to public offices. This Constitution has since been replaced by the Constitution of 1991. On the back, it depicts Miguel Antonio Caro, who was the Vice President of Colombia (b. 1845-1909). This note is printed by Bundesdruckerei Alemania Federal in Berlin Germany. Subsequent notes printed (P435, P436 and P436A) by various printers are not considered as Commemorative issues.
