...Haiti - 10 Groudes Dated 2013 Polymer

This is the long awaited polymer note from Haiti. Whilst this note was reported much earlier, only recently it has been released to the public for circulation. It is interesting to note that whilst this note has a year dated of 2013, the previously 10 Groudes paper note issued has a year date of 2014. I am not sure why this was the case. Also it is believed that this could be the only letter prefix M printed in polymer, presumably a maximum total of 10 million pieces. The 2012 paper note print was printed with prefix L and the 2014 issue was printed with prefix N. Unless there are crossed over prefixes printed. Is this a one-off polymer print for this denomination? The other question to ask is why they issued the 2014 series first before this polymer note?

These notes were issued to celebrate the country's constitution bicentenniary. There are three versions of this issue. One was printed with overprint texts to celebrate this special occasion. This note was issued in a folder format. One printed with sliver strip on the right instead of gold in colour and the third one printed with one one set of 9-digit serial number on one side. The main design on the back of the note is the country's constitution, and if you can enlarge the note with your scanner, you can actually read the tests printed too, in French of course.

...Haiti - One Gourde Political Note

It is believed this overprint was done by Haitian exiles living in the United States at the time when the government of Haiti led by President-for-Life Jean-Claude 'Baby Doc' Duvalier fled Haiti to Paris, France on a U.S. Air Force plane. This dramatic departure ended 29 years of totalitarian rule by the Duvalier dynasty, first led by Baby Doc Duvalier's father, 'Papa Doc' Francois Duvalier (b.1907-1971). The date printed on the note - 7 Fev, 1986 was the day the Duvalier dynasty's regime ended.

As this is a private overprint by the Haitian people against the Duvalier regime, it is not sure how many pieces were made.
