This note was issued to celebrate the country's Central Bank's 30th Anniversary. This is also the country first ever commemorative banknote issued to celebrate this very special occasion. The Central Bank of Belize was established on 1.1.1982. Prior to that, the country central bank was known as Board of Commissioners of Currency (1894-1976) and Belize Monetary Authority (1976-1981) before changing to the current name in 1982.
