This is a 200 lempiras commemorative note released on 01.09.2021. This note was issued to celebrate the country's 200th year of independence. Independence day is celebrated on the 15th of September. Spain granted Honduras's independent in 1821 and became part of the First Mexican Empire until 1823, where it joined the United Provinces of Central America. This union later fell apart and Honduras became independent on 05.11.1838.
It was reported that 30 million pieces were issued in 2021 and with another 20 million pieces to be made available in 2022. The imprinter firm is G+D Currency Technology, which is also printed on the back of the note.
Honduras is a country located in Central America. It shares a common border with Guatemala to the west, El Salvador on the Southwest and Nicaragua to the south. Honduras is one of the few countries in the Americas that have access to the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean sea/Atlantic Ocean. Independence from the Spanish was achieved on 15.09.1821. The Spanish had occupied Honduras since the mid 1500s.
The design of this note is completely new.
On the front, it depicts a group of students celebrating the flag rising and beneath them an open book with the word EDUCACION (education). On the right is the CASA DE COBIERO DE LA PROVINCIA DE HONDURAS (Government house of the province of Honduras) and followed by the year 1821 - ANO 1821). On the top right corner, is printed with '200 ANO' (200 years). Viva la Independencia (long live Independence) is printed on the bottom right.
On the watermark area, it features the independence date of 15 Septiembre 1821 (15.09.1821), the image of BCH (Banco Central De Honduras), a document presumably the independence agreement and a feather pen.

The design on the back of this banknote is just stunning. The colours of the Scarlet Macaw is just beautiful, and the overall design of this note on the back is not overpowered by other security features.
